BK Technologies, Inc. to Expand Headquarters on Florida’s Space Coast

Space Coast, FL (August 13, 2019) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) announced today that BK Technologies, Inc. will expand operations at its headquarters in West Melbourne, Florida. The company, who has maintained operations on Florida’s Space Coast for over 45 years, plans to create 35 new positions in the next two years, with an average annual wage of $73,500.

EDC Secures Second Grant for Brevard County Emergency Operations Center

Space Coast, FL (July 23, 2019) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) has secured a Defense Infrastructure Grant from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity in the amount of $366,666. This is the second consecutive year that the EDC identified this opportunity and was awarded funds which will support the Brevard County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Civil Site Preparation project. Last year, the EDC was awarded $500,000, bringing the grant award total to nearly $867,000.

OneWeb Satellites Opens 105,500 Square-Foot Production Facility on Florida’s Space Coast

Space Coast, FL (July 22, 2019) – Today, OneWeb Satellites, a joint venture of OneWeb and Airbus, officially opened the world’s first high-volume, high-speed advanced satellite production facility in Exploration Park on Florida’s Space Coast. Today’s milestone is the next step in advancing the company’s investment on Florida’s Space Coast, which was first announced in 2016 by the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast’s (EDC) after a highly competitive site selection process. This state-of-the-art facility will employ 250 new high-tech workers and create an additional 3,000 indirect jobs through the supply chain.

Announcing the Rise of the Rest 8.0 Finalists

Space Coast, FL (April 2, 2019) – In just a few weeks, the Rise of the Rest Road Trip heads to Florida and Puerto Rico. The bus will be hitting the road from April 29 to May 3 to make stops in Orlando, Tampa Bay, Miami, and the Space Coast. The tour will end the week with a visit to Puerto Rico to explore innovation and entrepreneurship with Chef José Andrés. At each stop, the Rise of the Rest team will host a fireside chat, a community celebration, and a pitch competition where eight startups will compete for a $100,000 investment from Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund.
