EDC announces Aerion Supersonic selects Space Coast for $300M global HQ, manufacturing facility, 675 jobs | Letter from EDC President & CEO

SPACE COAST, Fla. (April 24, 2020) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) today announced a new state-of-the-art campus – Aerion Park – in Melbourne, Florida. Aerion Park will form a new global headquarters and integrated campus for research, design, build and maintenance of the company’s supersonic aircraft. The new project represents a multi-year $300 million investment that is expected to generate at least 675 jobs in Florida by 2026.

Critical PPE on its way to United Way, military families through EDC’s manufacturing resiliency team

SPACE COAST, Fla. (April 23, 2020) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast’s (EDC) manufacturing resiliency team secured the donation of two thousand medical masks and two hundred KN95 masks, which were delivered today to the United Way of Brevard. The masks, donated by BCAF Trading, Inc. of Melbourne, are on their way to various non-profits throughout the Space Coast.

EDC provides transportation funding to Brevard Public Schools for STARBASE Academy

SPACE COAST, Fla. (January 27, 2020) – Brevard County’s own STARBASE Academy officially opened on Saturday, January 25 at Patrick Space Force Base. Only the second location in Florida, STARBASE is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Enrichment Academy founded by the Department of Defense (DoD). Students from Brevard Public Schools will be transported to the new facility thanks to a grant from the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast.

Space Coast EDC applauds Gov. DeSantis announcement of infrastructure grant for MLB Airport

(November 13, 2019) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) today praised a decision by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to grant $3.9 million in infrastructure funding to Orlando Melbourne International Airport. The grant from the Florida Job Growth Fund will help open additional airport-owned land for economic development and the potential creation of 500 jobs.

Local manufacturers host manufacturing month plant tours for students

(October 30, 2019) – In celebration of Manufacturing Month 2019, four Brevard County manufacturers opened their doors to a dozen students from the Certified Production Technician (CPT) program overseen by the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC). The tours are part of a comprehensive effort to inspire and train the next generation of production workers by showcasing the outstanding opportunities and current realities of high-tech manufacturing careers.
