October 7 is National Manufacturing Day

Join the Celebration of our Manufacturing Industry in Brevard

Brevard County, FL (September 23, 2016) – October 7 is National Manufacturing Day, a grassroots effort encouraging manufacturers to open their place of business and inspire the next generation of talent. Here in Florida, we have designated October as “Manufacturing Month” and Brevard County is joining the celebration of this vital and growing industry.

Recognition of the impact of manufacturing to our economy will begin on October 4, 2016 when the County Commission proclaims October as “Manufacturing Month” in Brevard. A proclamation will be presented to Michael Ennis, Chairman of the Regional Manufacturing Association of the Space Coast (MASC) and manufacturing engineer at Harris Corporation.

“I am looking forward to receiving this resolution,” stated Michael Ennis. “As a manufacturer, it is exciting to have an entire month focusing on this industry. Manufacturing is more than an assembly line, it is an industry laced with innovation and invention.”

“For more than a decade, Brevard continues to have the highest concentration of employment in manufacturing in the state of Florida,” stated Lynda Weatherman, President & CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC). “Manufacturing Month is our opportunity to showcase this important industry and tell the story of modern manufacturing.”

Manufacturing enables our everyday lives and drives our economy. Modern manufacturing is highly technical and provides diverse careers with high-wage jobs.

Manufacturing Month encourages businesses to share their technology and their story with the community. Manufacturers can learn more about scheduling events at www.mfgday.com.
