Embraer Breaks Ground on Facility in Titusville

Start of luxury seating facility marks important milestone for North Brevard

Brevard County, Florida (September 9, 2015) – Embraer’s fourth project in Brevard County is now officially underway.

Joined by Florida Governor Rick Scott and local, national and international dignitaries, Embraer leaders broke ground today on a new facility for the company’s Aero Seating Technologies division at Spaceport Commerce Park in the City of Titusville.

The new facility will include design, development and production of luxury seating solutions for various Embraer products, and will bring 150 new jobs to the area with an average wage of $48,000 annually.

“The new Embraer Aero Seating Technologies facility in Titusville will enable us to offer our customers the most advanced seating products and is further testament to the success of our partnership with the great state of Florida,” said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer President & CEO. “We are honored with the support of Enterprise Florida, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Brevard County, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast and the North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ), and we are proud to continue to build upon this foundation of vision and trust.”

This marks the start of the fourth Brevard County-based facility for the international jet manufacturer and it’s first within the city of Titusville. It is also the first major project announcement to take place within the aerospace focused Spaceport Commerce Park in northern Brevard County.

The company also considered other locations before selecting Titusville.

Governor Scott said, “Embraer’s new facility and creation of 150 new jobs in Titusville is great news for Florida families. Embraer chose Florida because they know Florida is the best place to do business. We must continue to fund Enterprise Florida’s toolkit so that Florida can attract companies like Embraer, remain competitive with other states, and create more jobs for families.

Embraer’s presence in Brevard County continues to grow year after year. The company has already invested over $50 million in capital investment in the county. In 2011, an 80,000-square-foot manufacturing and assembly building and associated paint facilities were opened for Embraer’s Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 aircraft, and later that year, a 58,000-square-foot customer delivery center was added. Last year, another project for Embraer, a high-tech Engineering and Technology Center, was completed and brought with it the addition of 200 engineers and supporting personnel. That was followed by the announcement of a new production facility for its larger Legacy jets, a project currently underway on its Melbourne, Florida campus.

“The caliber of jobs and the product being manufactured in Titusville will add to the county’s position as an industry leader. The hard work from the EDC, NBEDZ and the City of Titusville is unfolding before our eyes and it is very exciting to be a part of it all” said District 1 Commissioner Robin Fisher.

Lynda Weatherman, president and chief executive officer of the Economic Development Commission (EDC) of Florida’s Space Coast remarked on the poignant nature of today’s groundbreaking.

“This is more than a celebration; it’s a milestone,” said Weatherman. “This global aviation leader will now have operations in not one, but two Space Coast communities. Securing Embraer in 2008 was the beginning of what has become a long-term success for all of Brevard County. Maintaining a competitive business environment has led to this important announcement for Titusville many years later.”

The EDC has worked with Embraer since the company first considered the Space Coast more than seven years ago, and with the addition of community partners over the years, like the North Brevard Economic Development Zone, their footprint continues to build across the county.

“The entire community is proud to welcome Embraer to Titusville, and most importantly, we know we have a plan that works,” said George Mikitarian, president of the North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ). “The mission of the NBEDZ has always been to attract companies to North Brevard that want to take advantage of a highly trained, available workforce and infrastructure that supports high-tech pursuits. While we won’t stop here, today, we’re proud to say mission accomplished.”

The facility is being built by local contractor RUSH Construction and is expected to be complete in June 2016.

The company will employ administrative, finance, information technology, human resources, sales, purchasing & logistics, upholstery workers, engineering, research and development, quality, and assembly professionals upon facility occupancy.
