Space Coast EDC applauds Gov. DeSantis announcement of infrastructure grant for MLB Airport

SPACE COAST, Fla. (November 13, 2019) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) today praised a decision by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to grant $3.9 million in infrastructure funding to Orlando Melbourne International Airport. The grant from the Florida Job Growth Fund will help open additional airport-owned land for economic development and the potential creation of 500 jobs.

Local manufacturers host manufacturing month plant tours for students

(October 30, 2019) – In celebration of Manufacturing Month 2019, four Brevard County manufacturers opened their doors to a dozen students from the Certified Production Technician (CPT) program overseen by the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC). The tours are part of a comprehensive effort to inspire and train the next generation of production workers by showcasing the outstanding opportunities and current realities of high-tech manufacturing careers.

Brevard manufacturing sector outpaces state and national gains

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (September 16, 2019) – At the 4th Annual State of Manufacturing event -- hosted by the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast’s (EDC) Regional Manufacturing Association (MASC) – attendees celebrated the sector’s growth. Between 2015 and 2018, nearly a quarter (23.3%) of the of jobs created in Brevard County were in manufacturing, far exceeding the state and national numbers of 8.5% and 2.9%, respectively.

BK Technologies, Inc. to Expand Headquarters on Florida’s Space Coast

Space Coast, FL (August 13, 2019) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) announced today that BK Technologies, Inc. will expand operations at its headquarters in West Melbourne, Florida. The company, who has maintained operations on Florida’s Space Coast for over 45 years, plans to create 35 new positions in the next two years, with an average annual wage of $73,500.
